F1 ‘powerhouse’ George Russell defended: ‘It won’t faze him’

Jenson Button has backed George Russell not to let Kimi Antonelli’s recent grand prix victories get to him as the F1 title fight heats up.

Jenson Button defended George Russell, saying he is not bothered by Kimi Antonelli’s recent wins in the 2026 Formula 1 season. Despite Russell losing the championship lead to his teammate, Button praised Russell’s calm and collected attitude, emphasizing that Russell knows his speed and is unfazed by recent setbacks. Button mentioned seeing Russell recently and observed his composure amid the challenges. Russell, who won the season-opening race in Australia, has faced misfortunes in subsequent races, including technical issues in China and setup problems in Japan. In Suzuka, a mistimed pit stop under safety car conditions cost Russell positions, leaving him in fourth place, trailing Antonelli by nine points in the championship standings.
